Dental implants, prosthetics market projected to reach $14.1B by 2027

Katherine E. Pfaff

The global market for dental implants and prosthetics is expected to reach $14.1 billion in the next five years, according to an analysis from Reportlinker, an award-winning market research solution. The increase is based on an estimated value of $9.9 billion in 2022, which marks a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 7.2% across the forecast period.

Growth in the market is based on the increasing demand for cosmetic dentistry, lifestyle changes and poor food habits, as well as increased consumer awareness and a higher focus on aesthetics, according to a news release. At the same time, the market’s growth is expected to be limited by the cost of dental implants and low reimbursements.

The market is segmented by price, with segments including premium implants, value implants and discounted implants. Premium implants held the largest share of the dental implants market in 2021. The large share of premium implants is mainly due to their higher adoption in countries such as the U.S., Germany and Japan.

In the prosthetics market, when viewing segments by type, dental bridges held the largest share in 2021, compared to dental crowns, dentures, abutments, veneers, and inlays and onlays. The large share of dental bridges is mainly because these bridges are cost-effective alternatives to single-tooth implants and can also cover up multiple missing teeth. However, the use of bridges in dental restoration procedures poses the risk of deterioration of the bone surrounding the previous missing tooth.

Hospitals and clinics held the largest dental implants and prosthetics market share in 2021, according to the report. The rising number of dental clinics and hospitals in developing countries (such as India and China) is expected to provide lucrative growth opportunities for players operating in the dental implants and prosthetics market.
