Tetrous EnFix Implants Surpass 5,500

Milestone achieved approximately two years after full commercial launch reflects growing surgeon adoption and expanding use of EnFix across orthopedic sports medicine applications.

Tetrous, Inc ., an emerging leader in orthopedic sports medicine innovation, today announced that more than 5,500 EnFix® demineralized bone fiber (DBF) devices have been implanted since the product’s commercial launch.

The milestone marks a significant achievement for Tetrous and reflects growing surgeon adoption of an approach designed to address one of the longstanding challenges in orthopedic soft tissue repair: restoring the bone-to-tendon interface, or enthesis.

The EnFix portfolio includes EnFix RC®, EnFix TAC-O®, EnFix TAC-T®, and EnFix ACL® and is designed for placement within bone at the site of soft tissue attachment, supporting the body’s natural healing response at the bone-tendon interface.

Tetrous began a controlled commercial launch of EnFix in Australia and the United States in July 2023 with seven surgeons. Since then, the company has experienced significant growth in surgeon adoption, clinical applications, and geographic reach, and has achieved key milestones, including:

“Surpassing 5,500 implants reflects growing surgeon confidence in the importance of addressing the biology of bone-to-tendon healing,” said Bradley Patt, PhD, co-founder and CEO of Tetrous. “Since our launch, we have seen significant growth in surgeon adoption, applications, and clinical experience with EnFix. Most importantly, we are encouraged by the emerging clinical data supporting the use of DBF at the bone-tendon interface and its potential to improve healing and patient outcomes.”

“We’ve done a really good job in increasing the ability to add strength to a ligament or tendon, but we have not done a great job in increasing the healing potential of the ligament and tendon to the bone. Now, with EnFix, we have a way to restore the bone-to-tendon healing interface,” said Jonathan Godin, MBA, MD, of The Steadman Clinic. “It’s the first-in-class of augments in the actual healing between the bone and the tendon.”

Unlike augmentation approaches placed on top of the tendon, EnFix is designed specifically for placement within bone at the bone-tendon interface. The implant is manufactured to preserve and expose the DBF’s naturally occurring bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs), which help guide the body’s cellular response and support the natural healing process.

“Reaching 5,500 implants demonstrates that surgeons are increasingly looking beyond fixation alone and considering the biology of healing at the enthesis,” said Dr. Bellard. “EnFix provides a unique approach by placing a biologic implant directly within bone at the site where tendon-to-bone healing needs to occur.”

Founded in 2019, Tetrous, Inc. utilizes next-generation advanced technologies for enthesis repair in sports medicine applications. The EnFix family of demineralized bone fiber implants includes EnFix RC®, EnFix TAC®, and EnFix ACL®, designed to enhance the natural healing response by supporting biologic reformation at the bone-to-tendon junction. By focusing on clinically validated technologies that reduce failure rates, accelerate recovery, and restore function, Tetrous is helping surgeons achieve consistent, evidence-based results that translate into both short-term returns to normal activities and positive long-term outcomes for patients.

Tetrous enjoys significant intellectual property protection for its EnFix family of products, with multiple issued patents. Additionally, it has an exclusive license from TheraCell, an ISTO Biologics company, to use the demineralized bone fiber technology in its products for sports medicine applications.
