IDS 2023 will present latest developments in periodontics

The International Dental Show (IDS), to be held in March 2023 in Cologne, Germany, will highlight periodontal measures in use today and will also explore what’s possible in the future. As announced by the organizers, one of the focus areas will explore the treatment guidelines developed by the European Federation of Periodontology and the connection between oral health and general health.

The event organizers commented on the 2023 event during an Oct. 8 press conference in Singapore, during the International Dental Exhibition and Meeting (IDEM).

Dr Markus Heibach of the Association of the German Dental Industry said that the dental industry in Germany and abroad had recovered well during the first half of this year, despite economic fallout from the war in Ukraine.

“Overall, there are very positive signals, both domestically and also abroad across all areas,” said Dr. Heibach, according to an IDS news story. “In particular, we see an increased demand for high-quality restorations, for ‘high-end’ dentistry,” he said.

Heibach drew a connection between the pandemic and an increased awareness of oral health and general appearance. “Clearly, the constant preoccupation with health issues has reminded many people of the value of personal health and quality of life,” he added.

The IDS will take place March 14 to 18, and more than 850 companies from over 50 countries have already confirmed their participation at the event, which will also mark the 100th anniversary of the exhibition.
