Edra Publishing interviewed dental industry leaders and authors at the recent International Dental Show in Cologne, Germany. 

IDS organizers estimated that attendees numbered 120,000 throughout the convention. This year marked the 100th anniversary of the IDS, which premiered in 1923. The convention featured innovations and new technologies in digital dentistry.

In this interview, Dr. Amanda Seay talked about her career as a dentist and her book, “SEE – Art Esthetics Dental Photography.” 

Seay said she decided to become a dentist later in life. 

“One of my best friends told me she was going to dental school, and it sounded like a great idea,” she said. “I just jumped in with both feet and decided, ‘I’m going to do that, too.’”

In her book, Seay said readers will learn a lot about the fundamentals of photography, from equipment to settings, proper framing.

“But a little bit more than that, it’s about discovering the artist within and understanding how, through photography, you can discover your personal style, your love of what you see esthetically and what we do every day in dentistry,” Seay explained.  

Seay is a member of the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry, American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry, American Society of Dental Aesthetics and a Fellow Accredited Member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.
