R&M: dental articulators market to exceed 6%

The market for dental articulators is expected to grow to a value of $194.7 million by the end of the forecast period, according to a report by market analysis company, ResearchAndMarkets.com. The market is anticipated to grow at a rate of 6.1% CAGR during the period from 2021 to 2028 based on increased technology and dental disease. 

While the market was negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and closure of dental offices or reduced services and appointments, the ongoing usage rate of dental articulators is forecast to increase due to their wide applicability.  Dental articulators have utility in ensuring accuracy with fixed prosthodontic restorations, orthodontic appliances, and removeable prosthodontic appliances’ biting surface. 

By segment, the material which garnered the largest share of revenue was aluminum at about 40% in 2020. Also in 2020, the semi-adjustable articulators led the segments by type of product with about 40% of the share. The segment was buoyed by technology that allows for 3-D rendering of the patient’s jaw. When segmented by end-user for the products, more than 30% of the share was won by specialty clinics in 2020 as patients were most often seeking treatment for a condition related to oral disease.
