R&M: Zoom to boost orthodontic supplies market to $8B

Katherine E. Pfaff

According to the market research company, Research And Markets, the global orthodontic supplies market is forecast to grow at a CAGR of 7.4% from 2020 to 2016. As a result, the market is anticipated to reach a value of $8.2 billion by 2026. The increase follows a market value of $5.4 billion in 2020. Within the US, the orthodontic supplies market is estimated to be worth $2.3 billion this year, a share of 41.62% of the worldwide market.

The growth is attributed in part to the impact that “Zoom” meetings had or has on self-esteem and interest in changing one’s personal appearance. At the same time, consumers are savvy about treatment options and show increased interest in cosmetic treatments beyond basic corrective care, according to Research and Markets. In addition, technology advances and ability to reduce pain and treatment duration have increased patient interest.

Segment growth with the market, includes an expected CAGR increase of 5.4% to reach a $3.5 billion value in fixed braces. Following the COVID-19 shutdown, the removable braces market segment was adjusted to a CAGR of 10%.
