Periapical pathologies of endodontic origin are often found in individual patients; in fact, they involve a large portion of the population. Acute diseases, or abscesses, are very common. These two premises would be enough to insert these occurrences among the most relevant conditions in the field of odontostomatology.
The book "Retreatments. Solutions for periapical diseases of endodontic origin" - edited by Pio Bertani, Massimo Gagliani, and Fabio Gorni - aim to update the diagnostic and therapeutic processes to be used in cases of periapical pathologies of endodontic origin in teeth already endodontically treated.
With more than a thousand images and clarifying schemes on the clinical processes to be implemented in the retractions, the volume was created thanks to the collaboration of the various members of the Styleitaliano Endodontics group, a web community with 110,000 members; the largest endodontic community in the world.
Doctor Gorni, what are the inspiring criteria and general objectives of "Retreatments"?
Today, a set of factors has led to reconsider each dental element's role before sacrificing it. The alternatives, prosthetic or implant, are not without risks; peri-implantitis is the most frequent and most difficult to intercept.
Is it a book for specialists or general dentists?
Indeed, the volume is aimed at specialists, but I believe it is also a duty for a general dentist to know about these opportunities. Therefore I believe that this text is addressed to everyone. It is full of indications on strategies, choices, on the indispensable instrumentation to obtain excellent results.
Will the book also arouse the interest of young people?
Young people must absolutely be recipients of such a message! The challenges fascinate young people, many young people are the authors of the cases presented, and a complex treatment represents a nice goal to be achieved. A key text for endodontics that we will be forced to face in the coming years.
