Edra Publishing interviewed dental industry leaders and authors at the recent International Dental Show (IDS) in Cologne, Germany.
IDS organizers estimated that attendees numbered 120,000 throughout the convention. This year marked the 100th anniversary of the IDS, which premiered in 1923. The convention featured innovations and modern technologies in digital dentistry.
In this interview, Gianfranco Berrutti discusses the role of UNIDI, the National Union of Italian Dental Industries, and its position in the dental industry. Berrutti is currently an advisor to UNIDI and previously served as its president. He also has a leadership role with Major Prodotti Dentari, one of the leading European manufacturers of dental materials for laboratories and dental clinics in Torino, Italy.
UNIDI was established in 1960 and has played a key role in the launch of numerous companies that are still thriving and making dental materials and equipment in the industry.
“The Italian dental sector is one of the most advanced and most important sectors in the world in the field of dentistry,” he said.
For many years, UNIDI has helped increase international awareness of its member companies. The organization also promotes the quality and excellence of Italian dental products.
“IDS is the most important dental event worldwide,” Berrutti said. “We need to show to all the visitors the quality and great capabilities of the Italian dental industry.”
More than 190 Italian dental companies participated in IDS 2023. UNIDI organized an Italian pavilion at the IDS, showcasing 40 dental companies. This project was a collaborative effort with the Italian Trade Commission.
