Dr. William Nudera, author of “NuEndo: Rethinking Endodontics,” by Edra Publishing spoke with Dentistry33 at the American Association of Endodontists 2023 annual meeting in Chicago.
In the interview, Nudera talked about new technologies he is interested in exploring, including tomosynthesis, which he described as a bridge between traditional 2D radiography and CBCT imaging. Tomosynthesis captures an array of 2D images at various angulations, then combines the image with CBCT creating a 3D effect.
He also talked about a new approach to irrigation being developed by Drs. Sergio Kuttler and Anil Kishen, whose research at the University of Toronto focuses on bioactive nano biomaterials and phototherapeutics to fight oral infections and improve outcomes for patients.
Kutter is president and CEO of Syact International, a startup that had a presence at the AAE meeting. Learn more about the company, its EndoHeal technology and its scientific research on the Syact website.
Nudera also discussed trends he’s seeing with patients, including fractures and cracked tooth syndrome. Nudera said there’s also a move in the industry toward incorporating minimally invasive dentistry.
