Whitening market on the rise

Katherine E. Pfaff

The market for teeth whitening is expected to grow globally at a moderate rate between 2021 and 2026, according to the analysis company, ResearchAndMarkets.com. During the 2015 to 2020 period, the market grew at a CAGR of 5%.

As patients become more savvy about oral health, and continue to consume staining foods or drinks, the market is expected to continue to grow. Drinking tea, coffee, and alcoholic drinks, and smoking or chewing tobacco are common causes of dental stains and discoloration. Interest in improving the aesthetic appearance of teeth, including with whitening and cosmetic dental procedures will help to bolster the market.

Products for whitening of teeth have also become more diverse and innovative, adding to the growth. Recent advancements include natural alternatives, those without abrasives. At the same time, whitening treatments are widely accessible without a prescription, making the products easy to purchase.
