The market for dental 3-D printing materials is expected to attain a value of about $2.6 billion by 2028, according to report by market analysts, ResearchAndMarkets. The growth would account for a CAGR of ~22.4% during the forecast period from 2021 to 2028.
The market uptick is expected due to the increased incidence of oral diseases, interest in cosmetic solutions, and growing number of advancements in technology for 3-D dental printing. Specifically, 3-D printing resins have advanced along with the use of CAD or CAM design tools.
Within the 3-D dental market, dental polymers have likely taken the largest piece of the pie in 2021. These polymers are biocompatible, are stable in the mouth, are available at less cost than alternatives. The space is further boosted by nanotechnology and technological advancements.
At the same time, the largest segment share by type is expected to be dental 3-D printing polymers as it holds the distinction in 2021. The segment has grown as better and new materials, including monomers and nano composites, and technology for fillers have increased.
Within the printing ceramics segment, zirconia is anticipated to grow at the highest rate as the material is biocompatible, is not reactive chemically, and the aesthetic result is close to natural teeth.

The increase is projected based on the high rate of dental caries, greater awareness of the importance of oral health, an increase in the number of DSOs and greater demand for cosmetic procedures.
