The market’s growth is predicted as the demand for custom and personalized medical devices has grown. This has helped to bolster the 3-D printing market as a whole, though the uptick is thought to be possibly slowed by the level of cost of the 3-D printing devices and setup costs of such systems.

Technologies related to 3-D printing are trending toward patient customized devices and instruments created from imaging of the patient’s anatomy. Using additive manufacturing, 3-D printing can provide a dental professional with the ability to create complex and customized implants.
