The global market for dental implants or abutment systems is projected to reach $9 billion by 2030, according to a report by research analysts, Global Market Insights Inc. The market was projected to attain a CAGR of 7% across the period of 2022 to 2030.
The market was anticipated to grow based on drivers such as an increase in demand for cosmetic dentistry. Patient interest aesthetics and bettering oral care have been drivers of the market. Dental implants are an option for some patients who undergo surgery to correct damage or tooth loss following a trauma or accident.
The market saw a downturn during the COVID-19 pandemic as non-emergency dental care was temporarily halted. Coming out of the pandemic, the market is likely to remain hindered by the cost of implants and usual lack of insurance coverage for the procedure.
By segment, the custom abutment segment is expected to grow by 8% CAGR between 2022 and 2030. This is likely due to high rates of dental carries and oral cancer that can lead to tooth loss. Abutment systems can provide effective treatment at low cost and are often used as part of dental restoration procedures.
By material, zirconium held 24% of the share of market in 2021. In recent years, the demand for implants that use ceramic or non-metal materials has increased. The products are also biocompatible and less prone to wear.
By end user, dental clinics were anticipated to amount to $6 billion by the end of the period in 2030. This is due to continued increase in dental clinics and the number of patients seeking care, fueled in part by a growing elderly population.
