PMR: Endo and ortho market to grow by 5.2% CAGR

The worldwide market for endodontics and orthodontics is forecast to grow in the decade from 2021 and 2031, according to a report by market analysts, Persistence Market Research. The market is predicted to increase by a CAGR of 5.2% over the period, following a 2020 value of $4.6 billion. 

The market increase is predicted based on higher rates of aesthetic dentistry which has been a driver for dental prosthetics and dental implants, fueled in part by increases in expendable income among patients. Another driving factor on the other side of the spectrum is a rise in the number of older patients, a rise in the amount paid for dental care and awareness of the importance of regular oral care and dental hygiene, and a rise in rates of periodontal disease. Additionally, technological advancements, have led to an increase in the market. 

In particular, according to PMR, the rate of root canals has increased and has bolstered the development of technologies through R&D in the space. One area of productivity growth that stands out is among dental implants. 

Based on PMR’s report, the endodontic segment has garnered two-thirds of the overall market due to the right rates of dental disease. By end-user, the dental clinic has held the greatest share of the market with 72.3% in 2020 based on its ubiquity around the world. When viewing the market by geographic region, North America takes the lead with more than 37% of the overall market in 2020. The geography’s frontrunner status is projected to continue into 2031 with a growth rate of about 1.5 times.
