Planmeca introduces two dental units designed to support modern clinical workflows through different concepts and use cases.
With a 7” GUI, intelligent workflow software, over-the-patient balanced instruments, automated waterline cleaning, and patient-first comfort, Planmeca Pro40™ dental unit brings next-generation performance to a familiar, beloved concept.
Planmeca announces Planmeca Pro40 dental unit, the next generation of its renowned side-lifting dental units, combining intelligent software, exceptional ergonomics, and proven infection control in a refined, space-efficient design. Building on innovations first introduced in Planmeca Pro50™ dental unit, Pro40 delivers an intuitive 7” touchscreen GUI, on-screen guidance for critical routines, and continuous, automated waterline cleaning to help clinics standardize care without slowing down.
Designed for both two- and four-handed dentistry, Pro40 offers an extensive movement range and clear access for dentists and assistants, with plenty of working space and easy reach to suction tubes and core instruments. Patients benefit from Ultra Relax™ upholstery with viscoelastic memory foam, adapting to weight and body heat, while clinics can choose from configurable legrest options (fixed and motorized) to support smooth entry and exit and optimal patient positioning.
“Planmeca Pro40 is all about making everyday dentistry smarter and more effortless without asking teams to change what already works,” says Tuomas Jurvanen, Vice President of Dental Units at Planmeca. “Clinicians get a familiar side-lifting setup paired with an intelligent interface, personal presets, live imaging access, and a design that looks and feels light in the room. It’s an elegant way to modernize care.”
The unit’s interactive display provides seamless access to patient data and is easily reached by the assistant, doctor, and patient. With Planmeca PlanID™ sign-in, each clinician can load personal unit settings instantly, while network connectivity supports usage analytics and reporting. An optional 15.6” touch monitor enhances visualization and patient communication, working as an additional user interface for the dental unit.
With the same architecture and installation points as Planmeca Compact™ i5 and Planmeca Compact™ i Classic, clinics can plan upgrades with confidence. Planmeca Pro40 supports six instruments and a maximum patient weight of 200 kg. Its covered instrument connectors and clean lines support efficient wiping routines, complementing its automated waterline cleaning for strong infection control.
Presenting Planmeca Pro50™ S: A compact dental unit with ambidextrous flexibility
Planmeca Pro50™ S dental unit is designed to offer flexibility and adaptability in a wide range of clinical environments. Its ambidextrous use and adjustable structure allow the unit to support different users, working styles, and treatment setups across modern dental practices.
Planmeca proudly introduces Planmeca Pro50 S, a compact and ambidextrous dental unit with side delivery and hanging tubes, designed to offer exceptional ergonomics, efficient workflow, and elegant Nordic design. Pro50 S has a minimal footprint, which provides ample working space and full adjustability to meet the needs of dental professionals of all sizes and working styles.
The unit’s small pedestal, slim backrest, and extensive seat height range create optimal conditions for both two- and four-handed dentistry. Combined with its wide adjustment range for the instrument console and suction arm, the dental unit ensures ergonomic working positions throughout the clinic day.
Equipped with a large 12.3” user interface, Pro50 S brings intelligence to daily operations. Its direct connectivity with the Planmeca Romexis® software platform enables fast access to patient information, including 2D images, photographs, and live intraoral camera feed. Customizable controls and Planmeca PlanID readiness further enhance workflow efficiency and user personalization.
Planmeca Pro50 S continues the design heritage of the Planmeca Pro series with its streamlined, easy-to-clean form and harmonious aesthetic. Built from recyclable aluminum and designed to be packed in a compact format, the unit reflects a strong commitment to sustainability in both manufacturing and everyday use.
The unit is modular, allowing clinics to tailor configurations to their needs. Patients benefit from exceptional comfort with upholstery options, including the handmade Ultra Relax™ Gem, which molds gently to the body with viscoelastic memory foam.
Planmeca Pro50 S is designed for both large and small treatment rooms without compromising ergonomics, aesthetics, or technological sophistication. It brings together compactness, comfort, intelligence, and sustainable durability, delivering a complete solution for today’s dental professionals.
“With Pro50 S, our goal was to create a dental unit that fits naturally into different clinical environments while offering a high level of adjustability and digital integration,” says Tuomas Jurvanen, Vice President of Dental Units at Planmeca. “Its compact structure, ambidextrous use, and modular design make it a practical choice for modern clinics without compromising core functionality.”
