TheraBreath Toothpaste Shows Strong Clinical Performance Gains

Clinical portfolio for the brand shows TheraBreath™ Healthy Gums Toothpaste significantly outperforms Crest Regular across gingival inflammation, plaque prevention, bleeding reduction, and malodor control.

TheraBreath™, the #1 alcohol-free mouthrinse brand and a Church & Dwight oral care brand, unveiled the results of eight clinical research studies through poster presentations supporting its new TheraBreath™ Toothpaste line at the International Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (IADR) 104th General Session, held March 25–28, 2026, in San Diego, California. The studies represent the brand’s first comprehensive, science-based clinical portfolio for toothpaste, delivering independently conducted clinical evidence across its new flagship products.

The research spans gum health, plaque prevention, malodor reduction, whitening, and enamel protection—marking a significant expansion for a brand long trusted by dental professionals for its popular alcohol-free mouthrinse line, now bringing that same science-backed standard to toothpaste. Highlights include:

“IADR is where the dental research community sets the standard for evidence-based care, and we’re proud to contribute to that conversation. These eight studies mark a turning point for TheraBreath™, establishing a clinical foundation for our new toothpaste line that validates what patients have experienced for decades with our rinses, and gives clinicians the data to match,” stated Annahita Ghassemi, Sr. Director of Global Product Safety and Clinical Research, Church & Dwight Co., Inc.

All eight posters—covering the full range of clinical studies presented at IADR—are available for download at hygienesquad.com/therabreath/resources-education/#research.

TheraBreath™ Clinical Posters Presented at IADR 2026:

In 2021, the TheraBreath brand was acquired by Church & Dwight Co., Inc., becoming the latest addition to its family of oral care products that include Waterpik™ water flossers, ARM & HAMMER™ toothpaste, and Spinbrush™ toothbrushes. Founded by Dr. Harold Katz at the California Breath Clinics over 30 years ago, TheraBreath grew into the #1 alcohol-free mouthrinse brand by targeting the germs that cause bad breath. Today, TheraBreath has expanded its science-backed approach across an extensive line of oral care products that include toothpastes addressing gum health, teeth whitening, cavity prevention, sensitivity relief, and dry mouth symptoms.
