Overjet wins FDA nod for AI software

Katherine E. Pfaff

Dental AI company, Overjet, received 510(k) clearance for its Overjet Dental Assist software, opening the pathway for marketing and sales to dental practices. The software-as-medical-device platform uses AI to allow dental hygienists and dentists to measure bone in imaging and assess the disease.

The software aids in the measurement of distal and mesial bone in bitewing and periapical radiographs for evaluation of periodontal disease. Diagnosis and adequate treatment planning can potentially ward off tooth loss and other effects.

Overjet’s “Dental Assist” program can provide automated measurements that were comparable to a panel of experienced dentists and an oral radiologist when tested. According to Overjet, when the AI program’s measurements were compared side-by-side with the experts, the difference was 0.3mm.

About Overjet

Overjet is the global leader in dental artificial intelligence, helping both payers and providers improve patient care. Overjet's in-practice AI software bolts on to existing practice management software and is designed to help dentists deliver high-quality care, automate administrative tasks, and identify areas for growth.
