Planning your meeting calendar for the next 18 months?
Always confirm dates and register through the organizer’s official site — schedules can shift, and hotel blocks open (and close) early.
Because three things still only happen on a show floor: real equipment pricing, side-by-side comparison, and hands-on learning. Specifically:
Budget somewhere between $1,500 and $4,000 per person for a major out-of-town meeting once travel is included — and near zero for a local one with free registration.
The bigger line is production: an owner out of the office two days can forgo several thousand dollars in billings — which is exactly why choosing the right meeting matters more than attending the most meetings.
The ADA discontinued SmileCon after the 2025 Washington, D.C. event, citing costs and post-pandemic attendance that never fully recovered; the planned 2026 Indianapolis edition was cancelled, though the ADA House of Delegates continues to meet annually. That leaves regional powerhouses — GNYDM, Yankee, Midwinter, Hinman, and CDA — carrying the national calendar. Dentistry Today covered the announcement here .
For most U.S. practices the 2026–2027 season comes down to one anchor meeting — GNYDM in November 2026 if you want scale for free, or your strongest regional congress — plus one targeted add-on: a specialty session, AADOM for your manager, or IDS Cologne if a major equipment cycle is coming. Pick those now, put registration-open dates on the calendar, and let the rest of the season go.
The Greater New York Dental Meeting is the largest U.S. dental meeting, drawing more than 30,000 attendees and 450+ exhibitors to the Javits Center each year around Thanksgiving. It is also the only major U.S. meeting with free general registration; the 2026 edition runs November 27 through December 1.
The International Dental Show runs March 16-20, 2027 at Koelnmesse in Cologne, Germany. IDS is held only in odd-numbered years and is the largest dental trade show in the world, where global manufacturers debut products months before they reach U.S. exhibit halls.
No. The ADA discontinued SmileCon after the October 2025 meeting in Washington, D.C., and cancelled the planned 2026 Indianapolis edition. The ADA House of Delegates still meets annually, but there is no national ADA convention for dentists on the 2026-2027 calendar.
Plan on roughly $1,500 to $4,000 per person for a major out-of-town meeting: registration up to about $1,000, hotel $600-$1,500, flights $300-$700 domestic, plus meals. A local meeting with free registration, like GNYDM for a New York area practice, can cost almost nothing beyond parking and time.
The AADOM Annual Conference is built specifically for dental office managers and administrative teams — the 2027 edition runs September 9-11 at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess in Arizona. Large regional meetings like Yankee Dental Congress and CDA Presents also carry strong practice-management and team tracks.
