High Point University will open the area’s first private dental school backed by $150 million in investment. The “School of Dental and Oral Health” will offer a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree, pending accreditation, and is expected to welcome its first students in the fall 2023 semester.
Classes are expected to be about 180 students. Scott De Rossi, DMD, MBA, has been named dean of the new school. He was previously dean of the Adams School of Dentistry and professor in the Oral & Craniofacial Health Sciences division at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. De Rossi has won multiple awards in the field of oral and dental health.
“High Point University’s innovative culture and the thriving community of health care programs are the talk of higher education. Being a founding dean is a unique privilege, and helping to start and grow a school of dental medicine is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.” Scott De Rossi, DMD, MBA.
