Delta Dental: Americans prioritize dental health

Author: Katherine Pfaff

In honor of World Oral Health Day on March 20th, Illinois-based Delta Dental Plans Association, the not-for-profit arm of Delta Dental insurance, shared results of a recent survey that suggests Americans are dedicated to their oral health. The majority (93%) of respondents shared they are committed to visiting a dentist this year. Bolstering those results, 90% of those surveyed reported that maintaining oral health during the global pandemic is needed to have overall health.

Simultaneously, most Americans (72%) said they were giving more focus to their oral health while at home during the pandemic. An increased commitment to oral health dovetails with World Oral Health Day's goal of improving oral health, overall wellness, and decreasing related healthcare costs tied to poor oral health. The Oral Health & Wellness Survey measured more than 1000 American adults' responses between December 28th, 2020, and January 8, 2021.
