Dental market to surpass $50B

Katherine E. Pfaff

The global dental market is forecast to grow at a rate of 8.1% CAGR between 2021 and 2018, according to market research firm The Insight Partners. The forecasted 2028 value of the market is $52.10 billion by the end of the period, up from a value of $30.28 billion in 2021.

Market growth is expected based on increasing rates of dental and oral disease as well as interest in aesthetic procedures. At the same time, technological advances, patients traveling for dental care, and an increasing number of aging patients has led to a boom in the market.

Tooth decay, dental trauma, and periodontal disease are increasing worldwide, according to the report. The forecasted trend cites 2020 data from the World Health Organization that points to more than 3.5 billion patients who have dental disorders.

Within the market, the largest share of the overall market is dental consumables, which is expected to continue in the coming years. However, the segment expected to capture the highest CAGR marking fastest growth is orthodontics.

By end user, the segment for hospitals had been held by hospitals in the 2021 market valuation. Moving forward, the segment was forecast to be led by dental clinics, which are expected to have the highest CAGR.
