uLabs wins grant from Tennessee

Katherine E. Pfaff

uSmile clear aligner system maker, uLab Systems, was awarded a grant to grow its manufacturing footprint in Tennessee. The grant was given by the state of Tennessee. With the funding, uLab will be able to create millions of aligners annually and to add 230 jobs across a 5-year span.

"uLab is honored to receive this generous grant that will enable us to not only invest in our business but to invest in the great people of Tennessee," said Amir Abolfathi, co-founder and chief executive officer of uLab. This grant coincides with the decision to officially move the corporate headquarters to the Memphis location.

uLab has maintained its manufacturing in the United States, which the company says is an advantage as the orthodontist is able to receive their aligner shipment within 10 business days. The company also works with its uDesigns software to plan the aligner process.
