As part of its sustainability strategy, “BEYOND: Taking Action for a Brighter World,” Dentsply Sirona has long placed a strong focus on creating a workplace, as well as an industry, that is equally welcoming to everyone.
Dentsply Sirona, the world’s largest diversified manufacturer of professional dental products and technologies, has renewed its partnership with Women in DSO®, extending its commitment through 2025. Women in DSO® is a non-profit organization that focuses on highlighting the contributions of women across the dental industry and promoting women leaders in dental service organizations (DSOs).
“Dentsply Sirona is an organization that walks the talk when it comes to efforts related to building equitable teams,” said Dr. Aman Kaur, Founder & CEO of Women in DSO. “It has been a joy to work with empowered leaders across this organization, and they continue to be a key partner as we expand our mission globally.”
As a founding member, Dentsply Sirona supports Women in DSO® by providing mentorship and speaking opportunities for female members, as well as access to key industry events, including DS World.
“The renewal of this partnership reflects our steadfast dedication to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace and supporting an industry where everyone has equal opportunity to thrive,” says Andrea Frohning, SVP, Chief Human Resources Officer at Dentsply Sirona. “More than 55% of dental school graduates in the U.S.¹ today are women—a clear sign of the industry’s evolution. This partnership reinforces our commitment to supporting women’s growth and success.”
Dentsply Sirona also maintains partnerships with the National Dental Association and Paradigm for Parity® to further inclusion throughout the dental industry. As part of a comprehensive inclusion and engagement plan, these efforts contributed to Dentsply Sirona recently being named one of “America’s Most Responsible Companies” by Newsweekfor the fourth year. Dentsply Sirona made the renowned list for its strong contributions toward a more sustainable dentistry, as well as its impact on improving access to oral health for communities in need worldwide.
A Month of Driving Employee Engagement and Inclusion
In related news, Dentsply Sirona has turned May into a “Month of Inclusion” with the aim of fostering inclusion and driving employee engagement across all the company’s global teams. Throughout the month, the company is inviting employees to global inclusion initiatives, encouraging them to learn more about their Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) and how to get involved, as well as promoting awareness of unique backgrounds, experiences, and profiles.
One of the highlight activities of this month-long initiative was a very successful “Global Conversation of Understanding” event in early May. Titled Inspiring Inclusion Across Cultures, it was hosted by Melanie Jenkins, Director, Global Inclusion & Engagement at Dentsply Sirona, and featured a range of voices from across the organization. Together with attendees, they celebrated cultural diversity in the workplace and promoted inclusion and a sense of belonging across the company’s global teams.
Dentsply Sirona also launched a digital Inclusion Pledge Wall, which employees from around the world can sign to personally commit to fostering inclusion and understanding in their workplace and beyond.
Importance of Employee Resource Groups
Nine Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) currently exist at Dentsply Sirona, with more than 4,100 members actively involved in these communities. All Dentsply Sirona employees can register for any of the ERGs.
“We have conducted an internal survey which revealed the impact of these groups: Employees that are engaged in ERGs consistently report higher levels of connection, engagement, and satisfaction with their workplace,” says Andrea Frohning, SVP, Chief Human Resources Officer at Dentsply Sirona. “In other words: Employees who feel seen, heard, and valued become more engaged, can thrive, and do their best work. These findings show once again how important inclusion and engagement are to both personal well-being and business success.”
