uLab Systems, creator of the uSmile clear aligner system and uDesign treatment planning software, recently announced the establishment of a separate business line to manufacture private-label aligner products. The new business will provide access to uLab Systems' software and handle manufacturing, logistics and packaging for partners to focus on the commercial and customer experience aspects of their business.
According to a news release, uLab's automated manufacturing facility for aligner products, its fast delivery times and proximity to a global shipping hub offer businesses in the orthodontic industry with manufacturing options to pursue creative new business opportunities.
Amir Abolfathi, chief executive officer and co-founder of uLab Systems, said the move is in response to demand across the industry for high-quality clear aligners manufactured in an environmentally conscious manner and delivered rapidly.
“The separate business line allows uLab to remain focused on our core commercial business — the flagship uDesign and uSmile product lines—and simultaneously support other industry innovators who want access to our software and manufacturing facility,” he said in the news release.
The company will produce aligner systems at a Memphis, Tennessee facility which manages millions of products each year, operates with sustainable practices — 80% of molds are recycled — and ships to locations across the U.S. and Asian Pacific locations.
