Mitsui Chemicals to Acquire Ultradent

More importantly, this milestone establishes a stronger long-term platform for growth by uniting complementary capabilities to deliver integrated clinical solutions, advanced workflows, and differentiated value to dental professionals globally.

Mitsui Chemicals recently announced its intention to acquire Ultradent Products Inc., a global leader in cosmetic, preventive, and restorative dentistry. This transaction represents a defining step forward for Mitsui Chemicals, Ultradent, and Kulzer. Together, the companies are building a future-ready organization—one that not only expands Mitsui Chemicals’ global reach but also significantly strengthens its ability to innovate and serve customers, with the ambition to help shape the evolution of modern dentistry.

The combination of Mitsui Chemicals’ research capabilities with the expertise of Ultradent and Kulzer creates a uniquely scaled, innovation-driven organization positioned as the global leader in professional whitening solutions and among the most comprehensive dental materials companies worldwide.

More importantly, this milestone establishes a stronger long-term platform for growth by uniting complementary capabilities to deliver integrated clinical solutions, advanced workflows, and differentiated value to dental professionals globally.

Creating a Leading Global Oral Care Platform

“We are very pleased to welcome Ultradent to the Mitsui Chemicals Group. This transaction represents an important step in advancing Mitsui Chemicals’ strategy.

While the United States plays a key role as the world’s largest healthcare market, this partnership also builds on strong global foundations, including Europe. Together with Ultradent and Kulzer, we are creating a more integrated platform to better serve dental professionals and patients worldwide,” says Hiromi Hayashida, Business Sector President, Life & Healthcare Solutions at Mitsui Chemicals.

He continues: “At Mitsui Chemicals, we are committed not only to growth but to sustainable and patient-centered innovation. We look forward to building a successful future together, fostering long-term value for our customers, partners, and stakeholders while contributing to the advancement of oral care worldwide.”

Chris Holden, CEO at Kulzer, says: “This acquisition is meaningful for all parties because it brings together highly complementary strengths with a shared commitment to advancing dentistry.

For Mitsui Chemicals, it represents an important step in building a stronger global healthcare platform. For Ultradent, it creates new opportunities to further expand its reach and innovation potential. For Kulzer, it strengthens our collective ability to deliver more comprehensive solutions and create greater value for dental professionals worldwide.

Most importantly, for customers, partners, and employees, it signals continuity, long-term commitment, and the opportunity to shape the future of oral care together.”

Dirk Jeffs, Ultradent’s President and CEO, says: “Mitsui Chemicals brings deep scientific expertise, and our shared commitment to innovation aligns with Ultradent’s values and vision. We are excited about the opportunities this partnership creates to accelerate product development, expand our global reach, and continue delivering exceptional solutions to dental professionals and patients around the world.”

By combining Mitsui Chemicals’ scale and materials science expertise with Ultradent’s deep clinical insight and culture of innovation, and Kulzer’s established leadership in restorative workflows, the combined organization becomes a more complete partner to its customers. It will accelerate the development of integrated solutions—connecting products, procedures, and digital and clinical workflows—to improve outcomes, enhance efficiency, and elevate the patient experience.

At the core of this combination is a shared commitment to customer-centricity. Together, Mitsui Chemicals, Ultradent, and Kulzer will be better positioned to anticipate the needs of dental professionals, provide more holistic solutions across the continuum of care, and support practitioners with the tools, education, and innovation needed to succeed in an evolving industry.

Equally important, Mitsui Chemicals deeply respects the distinctive culture, heritage, and people that define Ultradent. The company is fully committed to preserving the strength of Ultradent’s organization and ensuring continuity for its team, leadership, and ways of working. Its intent is not to reshape Ultradent but to support and strengthen what has made it exceptional.
