Dentsply Sirona and DLN Empower Veterans’ Dental Care

Formed in 1999 to improve access to dental care for underserved communities, the partnership between Dentsply Sirona and Dental Lifeline Network continues to thrive and create a lasting impact as it enters its 26th year. The partnership encompasses not only cash and in-kind donations from Dentsply Sirona but also volunteering by employees who are active in the VETERANS@DS employee resource group.

In recognition of Veterans Day on November 11, Dentsply Sirona, the world’s largest diversified manufacturer of professional dental products and technologies, is reaffirming its commitment to increasing access to oral healthcare for U.S. veterans through both corporate and employee-led initiatives. As part of its global sustainability strategy “BEYOND: Taking Action for a Brighter World,” the company has extended its long-standing partnership with Dental Lifeline Network (DLN) and made a $30,000 donation, which includes both cash and in-kind contributions of CEREC blocks, to support DLN’s Lifeline Heroes Challenge program for veterans. DLN also participated in this year’s DS World in Las Vegas with a dedicated booth, where they connected with dental professionals and inspired several to get involved in their mission as volunteers. The renewed partnership will continue to make a positive impact through 2026, providing free dental care for veterans in need.

At the same time, members of Dentsply Sirona’s employee resource group (ERG) VETERANS@DS are taking action by assembling 500 oral health kits for veterans in the Charlotte area. The kits include oral care essentials such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, and dental floss, as well as information on how veterans can register for free dental treatment through DLN’s network of volunteer dentists and laboratories. The kits will be prepared at Dentsply Sirona’s headquarters in Charlotte during the week of November 10 and will be distributed through local shelters and hospitals by Dentsply Sirona employees. The collaboration between Dentsply Sirona, its ERG VETERANS@DS, and DLN aligns with the company’s broader sustainability commitment to create 25 million healthy smiles by 2025, combining dental innovation with social impact and community engagement.

Ongoing corporate and employee support for veterans

VETERANS@DS supports active-duty service members and veterans as they transition into civilian life, fostering camaraderie and solidarity among all employees affected by past or present military service. The group hosts online career development sessions and builds partnerships that promote professional growth and inclusion. This Veterans Day initiative reflects its mission to give back to those who have served, both within and beyond the company.

Since first partnering with DLN in 1999, Dentsply Sirona has supported the organization financially and by providing platforms at events like DS World to help engage dental professionals in volunteer opportunities. Over the years, the company’s contributions, which total more than half a million U.S. dollars in cash and in-kind donations, have helped provide access to oral healthcare for vulnerable groups including veterans, adults with disabilities, and the elderly. Through DLN’s network of 12,000 volunteer dentists and 3,300 laboratories, veterans receive medically necessary dental care at no cost, often transforming their ability to eat, speak, and live comfortably and with dignity.

Through its support of Dental Lifeline Network’s Lifeline Heroes Challenge program for veterans, Dentsply Sirona is helping make it possible for patients like Jerry—who face serious health challenges and financial hardship—to access the dental care they need. Jerry, a 72-year-old Army veteran from Washington, was diagnosed with bone cancer and required urgent dental treatment before beginning life-saving therapy. With help from DLN, Washington dentist Dr. Duane Jones, an oral surgeon, and a dental lab all volunteered to provide free care, including extractions, restorations, and new dentures. Together, they restored Jerry’s dental health and allowed him to begin life-saving cancer treatment, demonstrating poignantly how access to oral care can transform lives.

“As we honor Veterans Day, we want to express our gratitude by taking meaningful action,” says Yoshi Johnson, Product Brand Manager, Endodontics at Dentsply Sirona, Chair of the VETERANS@DS employee resource group, and member of DLN’s Board of Directors. “For us, this day is about giving back to those who have served and ensuring they receive the care and recognition they deserve. By joining forces with DLN, we can help veterans not only access the dental treatment they need but also feel the appreciation and support of our employees, who are deeply committed to strengthening their communities.”

“Dentsply Sirona’s continued partnership and generous support make a real difference in helping veterans receive life-changing dental care,” added Clair Diones, Vice President of Marketing at Dental Lifeline Network. “For many veterans, dental care is not only essential for their health but also for their confidence and quality of life. Through initiatives like this and our long-term partnership, we are restoring smiles, self-esteem, and dignity for those who have given so much in service.”
