Miles for Smiles Supports Underserved Dental Patients

With renewed energy and commitment, Dentsply Sirona once again brought people together for a charity walk that ties into its commitment to increasing access to oral healthcare globally. The initiative was organized in support of Dentaid The Dental Charity, which supports underserved communities across the UK and Ireland.

As part of its global sustainability program, “BEYOND: Taking Action for a Brighter World,” Dentsply Sirona, the world’s largest diversified manufacturer of dental products and technologies, continues to support organizations that expand access to oral healthcare. One such organization is UK-based Dentaid The Dental Charity, which supports underserved communities across the UK and Ireland in accessing dental care.

Demonstrating this commitment in action, Dentsply Sirona UK & Ireland hosted its fourth annual Miles for Smilescharity walk. This year’s locations included Glasgow, Ben Nevis, Mount Snowdon, Yorkshire, Weybridge, and Howth Cliff Walk in Ireland. Miles for Smiles rallies dental professionals, employees, families, and friends for an approximately 13-mile (20.92 km) walk in support of Dentaid. This year’s events drew 143 participants and raised an impressive £18,000, which will help provide access to dental care for those unable to afford it.

Making a Difference, One Step at a Time

All proceeds from the event—generated through registrations and generous donations—will go directly to Dentaid in support of two major projects: the first supporting female survivors of domestic abuse and their children, and the second supporting people experiencing homelessness in areas of deprivation.

“It’s truly inspiring to see the dental community come together year after year to support this charitable cause,” said François Loiseau, VP & GM Western Europe at Dentsply Sirona. “The passion and generosity shown by everyone involved in Miles for Smiles reflect our shared commitment to increasing access to dental services and promoting better oral health.”

Since its inception, the Miles for Smiles initiative has raised more than £70,000 in charity donations. The event is a cornerstone of Dentsply Sirona’s broader mission to increase access to oral health through sustainable action and community engagement.

“Dentsply Sirona’s continued support through the Miles for Smiles walk means the world to us,” said Andy Evans, CEO of Dentaid The Dental Charity. “Thanks to their efforts and the generosity of all who took part, we can continue to reach people who would otherwise go without the dental care they need. We’re incredibly grateful for this partnership and the difference it makes. As we expand our outreach, we’re also calling on qualified dental professionals to consider donating just one day of their time to treat patients aboard our mobile dental units. Every volunteer helps us bring vital care to those who need it most.”
