From FDI a site dedicated to gum health

Periodontal and gum diseases are among the most common ones, neglecting them can have serious consequences both on oral health and on general health and maintaining healthy gums and periodontium guarantees a good quality of life. To say this, the FDI presented the website dedicated to gum health for the citizen who presents himself with a captivating question: "Are my gums ok?"

The site (https://gumhealth.fdiworlddental.org/ ), in English, French and Spanish, is intuitive and easy to consult, offers a series of useful information for the patient but can also be useful for the dentist or dental hygienist looking for "inspiration" for new topics and languages to raise awareness the patient on the importance of taking care of their oral health.

Among the strengths of the site, highlighted by FDI, is that of underlining that the prevention and possible treatment of gum disease is a collaborative effort that involves the dental team but also the patient.

By promoting this collaboration, FDI points out, individuals can proactively manage their gum health, ensuring not only good oral health, but also a better quality of life.

The site is part of the activities of The Global Periodontal Health Project (GPHP) activated in October 2015 to reduce the incidence of periodontal disease by increasing awareness of its impact and involving citizens, other health professionals, educators and politicians in promoting prevention.
