Dental care company, Aspen Dental, held its 8th annual Day of Service during which about 3,000 military veterans and their families received free care. More than 400 offices took part in the day, held on June 11. Some 2,000 Aspen Dental practitioners donated an estimated $1.8 million worth of services.
Aspen Dental, part of TAG- The Aspen Group, cared for the veterans and their families who were in need of extractions, fillings, repair of dentures, basic care, and urgent care.
“Each year, Aspen Dental care teams across the country unite to give back to our nation's military veterans during the Aspen Dental Day of Service,” said Arwinder Judge, DDS, chief clinical officer of Aspen Dental. “We founded the Healthy Mouth Movement in 2014, and over the years have provided free dental care to more than 33,000 veterans and their families, with more than $26 million in donated dental care. It is our way of giving back and honoring those who have served our country.”
Access to dental care can be challenging to veterans and their families, and the population is only covered for dental care by the Veterans Administration if they incurred a mouth injury during service, are fully disabled, or were a prisoner of war.
The volunteer event is part of Aspen’s community effort, Healthy Mouth Movement, which launched in 2014. Since that time, the company has provided more than an estimated $26 million in dental care to 35,000 veterans and other groups in need of care.
