Market for cavity detection to approach 9% growth

Katherine E. Pfaff

Market analysts, Grand View Research, Inc., forecast that the dental caries detector market will attain a value of $512.0 million by 2028. The growth would mark a CAGR of 8.9% during the reporting period of 2021 to 2028.

The market is expected to grow based on increasing rates of dental caries, increasing use of diagnostic tools to improve dental care, and increasing understanding of the importance of dental care. By product, the largest market share was held by laser fluorescent detectors in 2020. The devices’ dominance in the market is due to its common use to assess lesions and find cavities in enamel, permanent teeth, and dentin.

By geography, North America held the lead in the market in 2020 based the number of companies involved in the space, the growing number of patients with cavities and other dental diseases, and the expectation of technological advances.

Detection devices in the market include those used to scan enamel for cavities to allow for early diagnosis and treatment as well as to find micro-cracks or breaks which can be sealed.
