Fortune Business Insights: US Clear aligners to overtake traditional orthodontics, reach $4.55B by 2028

Katherine E. Pfaff

Fortune Business Insights' market analytics firm forecasts that the US clear aligners market will reach $4.55 billion by 2028, based on a CAGR of 17%. 2020 value of the market was $1.28 billion. The significant growth in the segment is expected to outpace the traditional orthodontic braces market.

Clear aligners are expected to grow based on patient preferences in appearance, ease, and comfort, and the need for fewer orthodontic appointments. Orthodontic practices are expected to see the largest growth in patients seeking teeth straightening through clear aligners.

The steep uptick in the market's growth comes after 2020 brought slowed growth to the segment (5.3% CAGR) after elective procedures or appointments were postponed in the wake of COVID-19. The end of 2020 brought renewed interest in restorative procedures and access to orthodontics digitally.
