Clear aligners to exceed $13B by 2027

Katherine E. Pfaff

The global market for clear aligners is expected to grow to a value of more than $13 billion by 2027. The market was valued at nearly $4 billion in 2021, accounting for a growth rate of 22% between 2022 and 2027, according to a report released from Research and Markets.

The increase is based on more patient populations suffering from malocclusions and increasing technological advancements in dental treatment, according to a news release. At the same time, more consumers are aware of the importance of oral care and hygiene. Patients are also more interested in cosmetic dental products and treatments.

In the past, the global clear aligner market was buoyed by market drivers such as growing urban populations, rising healthcare expenditures and a growing number of youth patients. The COVID-19 pandemic led to closures of dental clinics due to lockdowns in various countries. According to the news release, this in turn temporarily dampened demand for various dental products such as consumables, with one being clear aligners.
