IAOMT podcast launches second season

Katherine E. Pfaff

The podcast series “Word of Mouth,” produced by the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology (IAOMT) will soon release episodes from its second season. The podcast and video series will discuss dental care as integrated medicine and the link between oral health and systemic health.

Dr. Dave Edwards, DDS and president of IAOMT, said that all too often, dentistry is excluded from medical care, resulting in a disconnect between the treatment of the mouth and the rest of the body. “This is dangerous because oral health conditions are scientifically associated with a wide range of systemic illnesses,” he said.

Episodes will be released on a biweekly basis and will include interviews with and by dental experts.

Upcoming topics include a discussion between Dr. Griffin Cole, past president of IAOMT, with biochemist Boyd Haley on mercury fillings and a new heavy metals chelator that is going through the US Food and Drug Administration approval process. In the second episode, Dr. Beth Rosellini will interview Dr. Earl Bergersen, a pioneer in pediatric sleep, breathing and airway health. The third episode features past president Dr. David Kennedy, who will explore the adverse health effects from fluoride exposure.

Episodes can be accessed via iTunes, Spotify, Facebook¸ YouTube, and the Academy's website: https://wordofmouth.iaomt.org/
