Bernier wins H.E.A.R.T. award

Christina Bernier loves her job. She has been a surgical care coordinator in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery clinic almost three years and feels that she has found her home at Adams School of Dentistry. Bernier loves to help people and particularly enjoys connecting with patients as they come through her clinic. In December, she was named one of the annual ASOD H.E.A.R.T. Award winners.

The  H.E.A.R.T (“Helping Everyone Achieve Results Together”) award, recognizes staff whose contributions to the ASOD community have been substantial and who embody the shared values of service and teamwork..

“I was shocked to win,” Bernier says. “I don’t win things a lot!”

Bernier has worked in the medical field for more than 20 years. She came to ASOD because she was interested in dental care and wanted to gain new skills.

Glenn Reside, DMD, MS, her supervisor, sees Bernier as irreplaceable, noting that she keeps him organized, productive and busy. She loves learning new things, especially new processes and procedures, and enjoys seeing patients meet their dental goals.

“I like to go above and beyond for my patients because I would want someone to do the same thing for me,” Bernier said.

She also has a busy personal life. Bernier is married and is a mother to four children. Her eldest daughter is getting married in March, and she is excited to help plan the wedding. In her free time, Bernier loves to garden and bake. She has recently built a new greenhouse and enjoys growing herbs, tomatoes, zucchini and green peppers.
