Ryen Wilson, MS, DDS Class of 2025, has received the Chancellor Award for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Intersex Leadership in the Student category. This award recognizes and honors people who have demonstrated exceptional commitment and service to the ideals of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Ryen is the Co-President of the UCSF GSDDA (Gender and Sexual Diversity in Dentistry Alliance) and sits on the board of both the UCSF Students for Violence Prevention and the UCSF Community Dental Clinic. He is also a UCSF CARE Ambassador who acts as a liaison for students experiencing the trauma of sexual assault or violence, directing them to resources to assist them in reporting and recovering
Eva Bender, DDS, nominated Ryen for the award, observing that Ryen’s tendency to extend himself has been a great benefit to UCSF.
“I strongly feel Ryen exemplifies someone who has gone above and beyond to create and sustain awareness of issues affecting the LGBTQ community within UCSF as well as had a heavy involvement in initiatives for positive institutional change.”
