A. Isabel Garcia, D.D.S., M.P.H., dean of the UF College of Dentistry, announced appointments for two new administrative leadership roles at the college. Roberta Pileggi, D.D.S., M.S., is serving as a senior executive associate dean effective July 15, 2024. Christina Perez, Ed.D., is serving as the dean’s chief of staff effective July 19, 2024.
“I am delighted that they agreed to take on additional roles at the college that will contribute to the strength of our leadership team,” Garcia said.
Pileggi’s new role comes with a range of responsibilities including supporting program development and implementation of college-wide strategies and priorities, as well as assisting the dean with day-to-day administrative and operating functions. Her key focus areas include maintaining college readiness for accreditation and acting as our CODA liaison; overseeing completion of internal requests from UF and the UF Academic Health Center; assisting with major facilities management projects such as construction/renovation; overseeing college operations as a chief operating officer; working closely with the finance team/budget office to support initiatives and projects including growing the clinical enterprise and improving clinical business processes; and assisting the dean and others with short and long-range planning.
Pileggi will continue to serve as chair of the Department of Endodontics, director of the School of Advanced Dental Sciences, and as associate dean for Advanced Education. UFCD has launched a search for a new program director for endodontics and she will continue with that role until the position is filled.
Perez has been appointed chief of staff. She will serve as a senior advisor for the dean and work with executive, academic and clinical leadership of the college on strategic initiatives, data collection/analysis, college outcome assessments, policy development, improved workflows, and administrative activities based on institutional priorities. Perez will also continue to serve within the college’s HR office where her experience and understanding of our college are extremely valuable.
“In many ways, both Roberta and Christina have already served unofficially in these capacities and I have come to rely on their insight, ethics, follow through and unfailing emphasis on making decisions that best serve the college and our responsibilities as a trusted resource in dental education, patient care and service,” Garcia said.
