Measuring bite force: how to decide what treatments to provide, materials to use

Presented by Drs. Elahe Behrooz and Izchak Barzilay

The longevity of restorations can be directly related to the forces that they must endure during function. Until now, it has not been possible to accurately measure the bite forces that patients generate. A new device has been created that measures this force, and with experience, proper restorative and prosthodontic materials can be prescribed based on bite force. In addition, the measurement values can be used to explain to patients during the treatment planning phase how their bite force rejuvenation can occur once they are restored to proper function.
