PowerScrub® Vacuum Line Cleaner

Dissolves Debris, Inhibits Mercury Release, and Meets EPA Dental Rule Standards

Every dental operatory relies on a functioning vacuum system, and that system is only as reliable as what’s flowing through its lines. Blood, tissue, saliva, biofilm, and dental material residue accumulate daily, and when amalgam is present, mercury does too. PowerScrub ® Vacuum Line Cleaner, from Solmetex, is formulated to address all of it at once.

PowerScrub uses a 100% biodegradable microbial enzyme formula that dissolves debris on contact and continues working overnight, rather than rinsing through and out in a single pass. The cleaning action comes from specially selected microbes rather than heat or harsh chemistry. PowerScrub microbes activate at any water temperature, meaning no hot water is required, which simplifies protocol for busy staff.

PowerScrub is non-foaming and compatible with all dental vacuum systems, including both wet- and dry-ring configurations, and with all amalgam separators. It’s the only vacuum line cleaner recommended for use with Solmetex’s own NXT ® Hg5 Series Amalgam Separators, and continuous use extends that separator’s warranty from two years to five.

The EPA Dental Rule requires a neutral pH between 6 and 8 for anything introduced into vacuum lines. Oxidizing or acidic cleaners like bleach, chlorine, iodine, and peroxide fall outside that range and can redissolve mercury that’s already been captured by the separator, releasing it back into the wastewater stream. PowerScrub’s neutral pH formula meets EPA Dental Rule requirements outright, keeping captured mercury where it belongs, and it’s the baseline every practice should expect from any cleaner they use.

PowerScrub is the only vacuum line cleaner that contains Mereduce™, a patented technology scientifically proven to inhibit the release of harmful mercury. This gives the product a role beyond routine line maintenance: it actively supports the practice’s mercury management and separator performance, not just clean-running suction.

For the dental team, the protocol is straightforward: use PowerScrub daily on each line, and after any bloody procedure. Use with the Sidekick Dispenser, which holds enough solution for two operatories and connects to the HVE/LVE lines, creating a vortex to activate the microbes as they’re pulled in by suction. The product’s microbial formulation is also designed to optimize amalgam separator collection container capacity by digesting biowaste, meaning less frequent container changes over time.

To sum it up, PowerScrub doesn’t just disappear down the drain like many cleaners. It stays active, continuously digesting the debris that slows suction, causes odor, and fills collection containers early. For dental practices, that means real savings. It’s a single, easy-to-use product that delivers on evacuation system performance, vacuum line hygiene, and EPA compliance, all at once.
