Glidewell launched “shade-taking system” for dental restorations

Shade Guide for BruxZir® Zirconia Dental Restorations

Glidewell launched a shade guide to accompany its BruxZir® Zirconia dental restorations. The new BruxZir® Zirconia Shade Guide allows dentists using the brand name crowns and bridges to have a more realistic guide for color selection. 

BruxZir’s Zirconia restorations were released to the market in 2009 and are made of a different materials than traditional shade guides, which are acrylic or porcelain. Because the materials have different optical qualities and opacity, the materials discrepancy could lead to an unexpected outcome for patients. The new BruxZir Zirconia shade guides are made with zirconia to provide a better representation of the final result. 

The new shade guide includes eight tabs, 7 of which represent the most used shades, and the last with a bleached shade. Tabs also have glazed and unglazed portions.
