Children’s Choice Opens Oceanside Dental Office

Families in Oceanside and the greater San Diego region now have greater access to essential pediatric dental care with the recent opening of a new Children’s Choice Dental Care office. Focused on serving Medi-Cal–eligible and Tri-Care–eligible military families, among others, this new location will provide preventive and comprehensive dental services for children, helping to address significant oral health disparities in the area.

Access to dental care remains a critical issue in San Diego County, particularly for children enrolled in Medi-Cal. The California Third Grade Smile Survey highlights significant oral health disparities in the region, revealing that nearly one in five third graders (20%) suffer from untreated tooth decay—a preventable condition that can lead to pain, infection, missed school days, and long-term health complications. Additionally, the survey found that only 30% of these children have received dental sealants, a simple yet effective measure to reduce cavities. These statistics underscore the urgent need for improved access to pediatric dental care and preventive services in San Diego, ensuring that more children receive the critical dental care they need for a healthy future.

With a significant percentage of nearby families relying on Medi-Cal for healthcare, the new Children’s Choice Dental Care office will work to bridge this gap and ensure every child has access to quality dental care.

“Every child deserves a healthy, confident smile,” said Dr. Jeff Jacobson, Chief Medical Officer of Children’s Choice Dental Care. “Oral health is directly linked to overall well-being, and we’re proud to provide a welcoming, supportive environment where families can receive the care they need.”

Children’s Choice Dental Care of Oceanside will host a grand opening event on April 11 from 1–4 p.m., bringing together local leaders, healthcare professionals, and community members to celebrate this important investment in children’s health. Attendees will have the opportunity to tour the new facility, meet the care team, and learn more about the resources available to families in the community.

As part of the celebration, the event will feature a Children’s Choice Art Contest, allowing local children to showcase their creativity. The winning artwork will be displayed permanently in the office, fostering a sense of community pride and engagement.

“This office is more than just a dental clinic—it’s a place where children and families can feel valued, supported, and empowered to take charge of their health,” said Dr. Jacobson. “We’re excited to bring this resource to Oceanside and the broader San Diego community.”
