Chicago-based dental network marks 7th day of service

Aspen Dental, a network of more than 900 dental offices spanning 43 states, celebrated Veteran’s Day with a day of service held the Saturday prior to the holiday. On the most recent Day of Service, the seventh annual for the network, more than 500 clinics were able to provide dental services to about $3,000 veterans and their spouses. The value of the donated time was estimated at greater than $1.9 million.

As part of the event dentists in the Aspen Dental network volunteered their time and provided free-of-charge care for an array of issues, including hygiene, fillings, and extractions. Veterans in the United States are not eligible to receive dental benefits with the VA unless they have been deemed totally disabled or have an injury to the mouth that was sustained while serving. 

"This year's Day of Service was an incredible success thanks to the generosity and commitment of the dentists and teams throughout the Aspen Dental network," said Dr. Lauren McDonough, vice president of practice owner development for Aspen Dental. "In the last 7 years, dentists and teams across Aspen Dental have collectively helped more than 30,000 veterans and military family members, and we're proud to continue those efforts this year and honor those who have served."
