Zirconia dental materials market to surpass $364M in 7 years

Katherine E. Pfaff

The zirconia dental materials market is projected to hit $364.3 million by 2028, a market research company. The increase marks a 7.8% CAGR from this year to 2028.

Growth in the segment is expected due to its strength, potential for use in diverse ways, and compatibility with living tissues. For example, zirconium dioxide is about five times as strong as porcelain, according to Grand View.

At the same time, the dental market as a whole is changing: patients are aging, and dental prosthetics are increasingly created in outsourced laboratories, making specialized dental materials accessible. The market growth may be slowed by a lack of professionals knowledgeable how to work with zirconium materials.

Within the zirconia dental market, the dental disc area is likely to continue its dominance; in 2020, the segment was estimated to account for 62% of the market share. Dental crowns also took a major share of the market. Geographically, the US took 38% of the market in 2020.
