GC and SprintRay Introduce New Hybrid Ceramic Restorative Material

SprintRay, a leader in dental 3D printing, and GC, a global R&D and manufacturing leader in dental materials science, announced GC’s first restorative material, GC GRADIA® PREMi, custom-designed and engineered for the SprintRay Midas Digital Press.

New GC hybrid ceramic restorative resin, custom-engineered for SprintRay’s Midas Digital Press stereolithography printer, joins SprintRay Midas Restore™ on the only platform where these materials can be pressed, not printed.

SprintRay, a leader in dental 3D printing, and GC, a global R&D and manufacturing leader in dental materials science, announced GC’s first restorative material, GC GRADIA® PREMi, custom-designed and engineered for the SprintRay Midas Digital Press. While the partnership was announced earlier this year, the new material was unveiled to dental professionals on Oct. 10 at 3DNext, SprintRay’s summit in Miami. The collaboration combines GC’s 105 years of restorative material science with SprintRay’s innovation in dental 3D printing and its latest technology, Midas, a digital 3D press technology that overcomes the limits of conventional 3D printing by “pressing” highly viscous, highly filled restorative materials.

Both GC GRADIA PREMi and SprintRay’s own highly anticipated restorative resin, Midas Restore, share something no conventionally printed material can claim: Their highly filled, highly viscous formulations are engineered for the Midas Digital Press and would be difficult or impossible to process using conventional dental 3D printers. They can only be produced through Digital Press Stereolithography, a technology available exclusively in Midas, which actively presses material into the build area rather than relying on resin to flow.

“Materials have always defined what’s possible in dental restoration,” said Amir Mansouri, Ph.D., co-founder and CEO of SprintRay. “Midas removed the manufacturing ceiling that forced every other system to trade filler content and durability for printability. What excites us most isn’t a single material; it’s that the platform is now strong enough to carry the work of one of the world’s leading materials companies. When GC chooses to innovate and create for Midas, that tells the whole profession what this technology can do.”

For GC, engineering GC GRADIA PREMi for SprintRay’s Midas platform is not simply an entry into additive manufacturing. It is a custom-designed, digitally press-enabled breakthrough built on more than a century of evidence-based science, clinical learning, proprietary material science, and chairside validation.

“Our confidence in GC GRADIA PREMi is rooted in over 105 years of understanding how restorative chemistry succeeds in a clinical practice,” said Joseph Talanges, president and chief operating officer of GC America, Inc. “Clinicians do not evaluate restorative materials based on novel innovation alone; they demand long-term clinical durability, excellent esthetics, biomimetic wear, and uncompromising marginal integrity. Through SprintRay’s Digital Press technology, we are bridging the gap between chairside speed and permanent restorative clinical performance, which builds trust between dentists and their patients. We are not merely printing or milling a crown—we are translating our proven restorative science into an immediate, same-day reality for patients and their doctors. At GC, our century of experience is not just history; it is our proof.”

While traditional chairside materials often force clinicians to compromise—sacrificing esthetics for flexural durability or speed for wear performance—GC GRADIA PREMi introduces a custom-designed and engineered ceramic hybrid architecture intended to balance these properties:

GC GRADIA PREMi arrives as a complete, predictable restorative ecosystem. Validated chairside from scan to seat, the workflow integrates directly with GC’s proven finishing and adhesive portfolio, including the new G-BOND Universal™ and G-CEM ONE™ universal cement, giving practitioners immediate clinical confidence in every Midas restoration. For certain cases, dentists also use GC’s OPTIGLAZE™ for color characterization.

With the addition of Midas Restore and GC GRADIA PREMi, the Midas Digital Press now offers dental professionals a choice of definitive 3D-pressed restorative materials:

Both materials can be used to produce crowns, inlays, onlays, and veneers chairside or in a laboratory through the same clean, capsule-based workflow: design, press, clean, and cure. Full mechanical data for GC GRADIA PREMi and Midas Restore will be published in forthcoming clinical and technical documentation.

Midas Restore is currently available in the United States. GC GRADIA PREMi will be available in the United States starting Nov. 1, 2026. Both materials are validated for use with the Midas Digital Press.

Clinicians can learn more and experience the pressed workflow firsthand through the Midas World Tour, the companies’ ongoing global education program.
