Since the launch of its sustainability strategy “BEYOND: Taking Action for a Brighter World” in 2021, Dentsply Sirona has steadily worked toward ambitious sustainability goals. The company’s achievements in this field have once more been recognized with two notable sustainability rankings.
Dentsply Sirona was named one of “America’s Greenest Companies 2025” for the second year in the most recent Newsweek ranking which recognizes the top 500 US companies for their commitment to reducing their environmental impact. Dentsply Sirona also made it onto the Sustainalytics’ 2025 ESG Top-Rated Companies List (Industry Top rated) for a second year, highlighting its ongoing actions toward strong environmental, social, and governance practices.
“It is truly gratifying to see our commitment to sustainability recognized by being included in not one, but two prestigious sustainability rankings,” says Tony Johnson, SVP, chief supply chain officer and executive sponsor for ESG at Dentsply Sirona. “This acknowledgment highlights the meaningful progress we have made toward our environmental goals and reinforces our dedication to driving positive change. As we continue to take action for sustainability, these rankings inspire us to go beyond in advancing innovative solutions for a greener and more resilient future.”
Several environmental goals met ahead of time
As announced in the company’s most recent sustainability report, Dentsply Sirona has achieved several of its key sustainability goals ahead of schedule. Notably, the company significantly reduced Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions intensity by 46%,1 far exceeding the original 15% reduction target and achieving the goal well before the 2025 deadline. Additionally, water withdrawal intensity was reduced by 28%,2 surpassing the original 15% target and also achieved ahead of schedule, while overall, the company is working toward its 2050 Net Zero (Scope 1-3) carbon emission goal.
These and additional environmental goals make up the Healthy Planet pillar of Dentsply Sirona’s sustainability strategy “BEYOND: Taking Action for a Brighter World.”
The strategy also encompasses the two other pillars: Healthy Smiles (social goals) and Healthy Business (governance goals), where the company has also demonstrated measurable progress.
Most recently, Dentsply Sirona became a member of the Sustainability Leaders network, with the aim of fostering collaboration and sharing best practices with peers around the globe.
Ranking details
To determine “America’s Greenest Companies,” Newsweek partners with Plant-A Insights and GIST Impact to conduct a comprehensive data analysis.3
Eligible companies had to meet the European Union’s stringent sustainability standards—considered the most advanced globally—and were evaluated on more than 25 parameters based on their greenhouse gas emissions, water usage, waste generation, as well as their sustainability data disclosure and commitments.
Dentsply Sirona has made the list for the second time and managed to further improve its already very good score.
Sustainalytics, meanwhile, creates its list of ESG Top-Rated Companies based on their Sustainalytics ESG Risk Ratings which cover more than 14,000 companies across 42 industries.4
Dentsply Sirona is among the top-rated companies in the healthcare sector, both for the US and globally.
