Lara Fu, a fourth-year dental student, was recognized during the 2023 Chancellor Awards for Diversity celebration on Oct. 24.
She received the Chancellor Award for Disability Service in the student category.
"Lara Fu imbues clinical care and research with empathetic insight to empower pediatric dental patients, strengthen community connection, and foster access and health equity for patients with disabilities," said the awards body.
Lara's contributions include developing an app called "My Ariel Health," a tool that helps people with disabilities track their dental health and communicate with their dentist.
Lara was among the ten UCSF faculty, staff and learners to receive awards at the ceremony.
