U.S. Oral Surgery Management (USOSM) has named Melissa Winfield and David Livesay as senior vice presidents of operations.
In their new roles, Winfield will be responsible for the Western half of the U.S. and Livesay will be responsible for the Eastern half, according to a news release.
USOSM President and CEO Richard Hall said the organization’s rapid growth in new practice partnerships and the continuous growth of current practice partnerships has led to unprecedented acceleration in the oral surgery industry.
Winfield has been with USOSM since 2018, first as a regional director, and most recently serving as vice president of operations. In her new role, Winfield will lead the operations for the Western region of the U.S, as well as the procurement and strategic scheduling departments. She will help ensure operations run at peak efficiency on a day-to-day basis, will serve as a mentor in the field, and help oversee systems, productivity and overall growth for USOSM and its partner practices. In addition, Winfield will serve as an advocate for and liaison to surgeon partners in her region.
Winfield said in the news release that she enjoys working with individual practices.
“Each practice and each surgeon are unique, even though they’re all leaders in oral and maxillofacial surgery,” she said. “Interacting with the surgeons and their teams to build relationships and being a part of their success in providing exceptional patient care is rewarding. I also enjoy mentoring and helping develop leaders, and the fast-paced and strategic nature of what we do. I look forward to this next step, as we continue improving and growing as a team.”
With 20 years of experience in healthcare operations and a strong clinical background, Winfield excels in operational management, systems development and implementation, procurement, strategic thinking, mentorship and culture development. She also has 14 years of experience working in dermatology, Mohs micrographic surgery and plastic surgery.
Livesay has more than 15 years of experience in operations and finance, working in a wide variety of industries including health care, consumer and industrial products, insurance, energy and construction. He is skilled in operational management, financial management, culture-building, procurement, hiring and retaining the right employees, scheduling techniques, customer service, strategy development and process improvement.
“In a nutshell, my job comes down to one question: How do we best support our surgeon partners?” he said. “Everything I do hinges on that. Our surgeon partners are the best at what they do, and I provide nonclinical support to help them continue improving.”
Headquartered in Irving, Texas, USOSM has partner practices spanning 24 states. A shared services organization, USOSM collaborates with premier oral and maxillofacial surgeons to offer a partnership solution for continued and accelerated practice success. USOSM provides operational, marketing and administrative support services, reinvests resources, and applies best practices to improve clinical and financial performance and produce steadier, more profitable growth for all.
