AIC Award 2022 Contest is the competition that the Italian Academy of Conservative and Restorative Dentistry (AIC) announces for its young Ordinary Members, with the aim of rewarding the best clinical case of a direct or indirect restorative treatment performed in a single quadrant.
This year the winner of the contest was Dr. Simona Chirico, who brought into the competition a case of "Indirect restorations of elements 2.5 and 2.6 performed with a digital workflow".
The case involved the execution of an overlay for element 2.5 (vital element) and an endocrown for element 2.6, after endodontic treatment (therapy also performed by Dr. Chirico). After removing the caries, finishing the cavities and preparing the elements for the two indirect restorations, the whole case was handled in a single session, with a digital workflow. This included in order: digital impression, digital design of the restorations, milling and baking.
At this point, everything was completed with the luting of the two restorations under the rubber dam. The final check, both clinical and radiographic, was performed one month after the finalization of the case.
The award for the winner consists in the association for one year with AIC and in the publication of the case in the magazine “Dental Cadmos”.
