At the recent American Association of Endodontists annual meeting, Dentistry33’s Paola Omini interviewed Professor Arnaldo Castellucci about the meeting, how he inspires students and what drives his passion for endodontics.
Castellucci is the author of “Endodontics – Volume 1 and 2,” from Edra Publishing. The book describes endodontics of the past and present, highlights trends and offers insight into endodontics of the future.
In the interview, he talked about attending the AAE meeting, which provides an opportunity to meet with friends and colleagues he’s known for many, many years. Since 1981, the professor said he’s only missed two or three meetings, a testament to the importance of these gatherings and the new technologies he’s able to learn about in the exhibition hall.
He said that he inspires the next generation of endodontists by serving as a model clinician and putting a lot of passion and enthusiasm into his own work.
“Exactly what I received from Professor Schilder, more than 40 years ago,” Castellucci said.
The late Herbert Schilder is renowned for the improvements he made to root canal therapies in the 1960s and taught at what is now the Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine at Boston University.
Castellucci graduated with degrees in medicine and surgery from the University of Florence and specialized in dentistry and prosthodontics at the same university. As described above, he also studied endodontics at Boston University.
