Bone void filler market growth to surpass 5%

The multinational market for dental bone void filler is growing at a rate of 5.6% CAGR, according to a report by market analyst firm Grand View Research, Inc. The forecast growth applies to the period from 2021 to 2028, and is expected to reach a value of $127 million by the end of the period. The market was estimated at $82.8 million in 2020.

The expected uptick in the bone void filler market is based on the success of materials like bone alternatives based on calcium phosphate. Such materials have been proven to maintain volume and absorb over time when used to aid the fixation of dental implants and help with bone growth. At the same time, materials used in the fillers are easily accessible and have a low incidence of infection and allergic response. 

Another significant growth area is the demineralized bone matrix, or DBM, which provides a 3D scaffolding to promote bone regrowth and close connection to existing bone. The segment for DBM carried the largest revenue portion (25%) in 2020.

Geographically, North America is the largest market segment at 38% based on the amount of spending.
