AIC Congress 2021 is coming Rome!

Lorenzo Breschi

Dear Dentistry33 readers,

After a long period without the possibility of meeting collogues and friend in person, I am finally pleased to present you the 22nd Annual Congress organized by the Italian Academy of Operative and Restorative Dentistry (AIC). The meeting “TOOTH CHALLENGE Crown-Down Treatment Solutions” will be held in Rome, Italy from Thursday, October 14th, to Saturday, October 16th, 2021. The event will focus on the tooth at 360° and offers the participants an important update on all the possibilities of preservation of the single dental element and, where this proves impossible, on the therapeutic options available for its substitution.

The Pre-Congress day, on Thursday, will be a journey designed and conducted by Dr. Lorenzo Vanini to understand the relationship between occlusion and posture, make a diagnosis and establish the correct treatment plan.

The first congress day, on the other hand will focus on the single dental element.

Morning will be dedicated to the endodontic canal system. Speakers will evaluate how to preserve pulp vitality in extreme cases, how to instrument the canals in a conservative way when vitality is lost and, finally, when to retreat orthograde or surgically the element with apical lesions.

Later in the day, the periodontal aspects of the single dental element will be discussed. Presenters will define how to adhesively restore the biological margins and, where this is not feasible, when to decide for a traditional crown or other treatment alternatives.

The second day will give a complete overview of the most varied restorative possibilities in case of loss or absence of a single anterior or posterior elements, evaluating surgical, orthodontic and multidisciplinary restorative aspects.

The AIC Board made every effort to ensure that the congress is based on objective information and on the latest findings in our field to make it relevant to our everyday clinical needs.  The Italian Academy of Operative and Restorative Dentistry really expect this Annual Congress to be a sign of recovery and rebirth, both human and professional, and an occasion to meet collogues from all over Italy after the great coronavirus pandemic.

The AIC Congress will be open not only to dentists, but also to dental technicians, who will be able to participate with dentists in the pre-congress course and in the Saturday session, while a specific program of great interest is planned for them on Friday.
